Posture

Is being comfortable really better than having good posture?

Nope.

You might be able to sit slouched for hours while relaxed and comfortable, but over months and years, this is going to mess you up.

Spinal discs will be crunched, and ligaments will be unnaturally stretched.

Many ancient statues and paintings display characters with a J-shaped spine. J-shaped spines are prevalent in many indigenous cultures where sitting on a computer is not part of life.

A J-shaped spine is not a perfect “J”, but simply means less curve in the cervical spine, with the only bigger curve being present in the lumbar region.

A straighter spine overall.

Infants, athletes, and our ancestors commonly exhibited J-shaped spines.

Studies show that lower back pain is associated with awkward posture while sitting.

To combat this, and decrease the risk of developing back pain:

🔵Roll your shoulders up, back, then down
🔵Focus on being “tall”
🔵Keep your butt closer to the edge of your seat
🔵Keep your chin down
🔵Stop sitting so much!
